International Congress on Occupational Health
It was started as a congress to prevent the industrial accident and occupational disease in Milan, Italy, 1906. It is the world's largest international congress in the field of the occupational health in which the occupational safety and health experts gather together every three years to provide new knowledge and information about accident prevention and share experience about the prevention of industrial accident and occupational disease and good practices with each other.
Congress History
  • ICOH was established for the occupational health experts to share and exchange information in order to prevent occupational diseases and occupational accidents such as an accident that occurred in the Alps tunnel construction in 1906.
  • When the commission was founded, it started with 18 members who represented 12 countries. One of the main tasks was to host an international congress every three years for the widely-known scientists in the occupational health field to share their idea and experience.
  • The centenary ICOH congress was held in Milan, Italy in 2006. The 31st ICOH general assembly was decided to be held in Korea according to the members' voting conducted at the 29th ICOH general assembly held in Capetown, South Africa, 2009.
